Electric equipment is becoming more prevalent as manufacturers start to develop an increasing amount of machines to help reduce emissions and create less noise on the job site. Caterpillar is one of these manufacturers and will display four new battery electric machine prototypes at bauma 2022. Takeuchi has added the TB335R compact excavator to its TB300 series and Komatsu has released the WX03 LHD designed for narrow vein underground mining applications with limited maneuvering space. In 2022, Cummins will deliver 300,000 engines to Hyundai Construction Equipment. Caterpillar's first battery electric excavators and wheel loaders to debut at bauma 2022

Caterpillar will display four battery electric machine prototypes at bauma 2022. The battery-electric machine prototypes include the 301.9 mini excavator, the 320 medium excavator, the 950 GC medium wheel loader, and the 906 compact wheel loader. The machines are powered by Caterpillar battery prototypes and include an onboard AC charger. The Caterpillar-designed batteries in these machines will also be available to power other industrial applications.

Offering a range of advanced features, the TB335R's cab includes a seven-inch touchscreen and a multi-function colour display.

New Takeuchi reduced tail swing compact excavator overhangs 3.1 inches over rear tracks

Takeuchi has added the TB335R reduced tail swing compact excavator to its TB300 series. The TB335R has an operating weight of 8,310 lbs. (3,770 kgs.), a maximum bucket breakout force of 9,127 lbs. (40.6 kN), and a maximum arm digging force of 4,290 lbs. (19.1 kN). The excavator is powered by an EPA Tier 4/EU Stage V emission-compliant engine delivering 24.4 hp (18.2 kW) and a maximum torque of 70.6 ft-lbs. (95.8 Nm). The compact excavator has a reduced tail swing design with a rear overhang of only 3.1 inches over the tracks.

Cummins Inc. will deliver 300,000 engines to Hyundai Construction Equipment (HCE) in 2022. Cummins has been supplying engines to HCE since 1990, hitting 10,000 engines supplied in 1996 and 200,000 in 2016. Earlier this year Hyundai Construction Equipment received 1.5 million mid-range engines produced from Cummins' Darlington, U.K. plant. Cummins and HCE have been business partners for over 30 years and this marked another milestone for both companies.

The Komatsu WX03 LHD is a 3-tonne diesel-powered machine designed for small, narrow vein underground mining applications with limited maneuvering space.
