World's tallest fixed boom telehandler debuts at World of Concrete 2021

the xtreme xr1585-c is the worlds tallest fixed boom telehandler

Xtreme Manufacturing has debuted the world's tallest fixed boom telehandler at World of Concrete 2021.

The new Xtreme XR1585-C delivers a maximum lift height of 85 feet (25.9m), and is the first Xtreme telehandler to utilize a five-section boom design. Capable of lifting loads weighing up to 15,000 pounds (5,443kg), the Xtreme XR1585-C benefits from a 67-foot (20.4m) maximum forward reach and is available with a choice of fixed, fork positioning, swing or side tilt C-class carriages.

Weighing 65,500 lbs. (29,710kg), the Xtreme XR1585-C is powered by a 4.5L Cummins 173hp Tier 4 Final diesel engine for enhanced rough terrain capabilities, and features a large capacity 100-gallon (272.5L) fuel tank.

Utilizing a newly designed chassis, specific to this model, the XR1585-C is 102 inches (2.6m) wide, has a stowed height of 10 feet 1 inch (2.7m), and a turning radius of 16 feet 8 inches (4.8m), and has wide stance outriggers as standard for maximum stability.

With a hydraulic flow of 49 gallons (185.4L) per minute, and a hydraulic pressure of 4,000 psi (275.7bar), the XR1585-C can be fitted with a wide range of C-class attachments, including pole grapples, sling mounts, truss booms, buckets, and personnel platforms. For its customers with B-class attachments, Xtreme is offering a version of the XR1585-C with a B-class carriage, known as the XR1285-B, with a reduced 12,000 pounds maximum capacity.

Like all Xtreme telehandlers, the XR1585-C benefits from 360-degree visibility from the cab, a fully-rated boom lift point, and long-life boom rollers for smooth operation. The XR1585-C can be configured with a choice of open cab, enclosed cab, and enclosed cab with heat and AC, as well as various tires, fork tines, and options including telematics.

To accompany the launch of the XR1585-C, Xtreme is also showcasing a brand-new concept designed to make it easier to precisely position loads at extreme heights. A newly-designed patent pending operator station has been fitted to the rear of the XR1585-C carriage, enabling the operator to travel with the load to height for enhanced positioning control. Using a wireless RF pendant, the operator can control all boom functions from the platform to safely and efficiently place the load at height. The carriage is shown at World of Concrete as a concept design, and would be sold as an option.

It was initially announced at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2020 that Xtreme Manufacturing was commencing development of this model, and it is expected that that XR1585-C will enter full production by late 2021.

New coordinated boom control option

In addition to the XR1585-C, Xtreme Manufacturing is also launching its new patent pending coordinated boom control option, also referred to as ‘coordinated motion', at World of Concrete 2021.

Ideal for the masonry industry, this new option gives much greater control of the load position, making it safer, easier and smoother to pick and place loads at height, particularly when working on uneven terrain.

The option includes two new sensors on the boom, which enables new horizontal and vertical boom operation modes. The new length and angle sensors allow operators to achieve true horizontal and perpendicular fork motions, independent from the angle of the chassis.

This option is now available on the Xtreme XR944-B and XR1147-B, and will be rolled out across all Xtreme models during the remainder of 2021.
