Weekly recap: Liebherr to showcase hydrogen developments, John Deere and Wacker Neuson’s collaboration, and more

With Liebherr showcasing a hydrogen engine, along with other technologies, at bauma 2022 and Volvo CE starting to test a hydrogen fuel cell articulated hauler, hydrogen technologies stood out this week. Also in this week, CM Labs released a new simulator training pack for compact track loaders that replicates machine instability and vertical lift clearance. Plus, Western Star boosted heavy haul and construction capabilities on the 49X model truck, and John Deere and Wacker Neuson started to collaborate on the development of mini excavators. Here are five articles from this week you won't want to miss.

At bauma 2022 the earthmoving and material handling technology segments will present numerous new products.

Liebherr to showcase battery-powered equipment, hydrogen engine, and digital solutions at bauma 2022

The Liebherr booths at bauma 2022 offer space for more than 70 exhibits on the outdoor grounds. Numerous new products and developments in the areas of construction machines, cranes, material handling technology, mining, and components will be shown. Some of the new equipment and technologies that Liebherr will show at bauma are a new crawler crane, the LR 12500-1.0, with a 2,500-tonne load-bearing capacity and the H964 hydrogen engine with low NOx emissions and the same service life of diesel engines.

The 49X is available with the Detroit DD16 engine or the Cummins X-15 engine.

Western Star boosts heavy haul and construction capability on 49X

Western Star is adding new options to expand the capability of its 49X model truck to handle heavy haul and construction applications. A new, optional Power Hood is being offered on the 49X, designed to allow for higher horsepower and more cooling for set-forward front axle configurations. Made from the same impact-resistant resin material as the sloped 49X hood, the new offering works well in applications that need higher horsepower ratings, such as heavy haul, construction, and oil field service.

The training pack runs on all of CM Labs' simulator platforms.

Simulate compact track loader machine instability with new simulator training pack

CM Labs Simulations has released its compact track loader simulator training pack. The simulation-based training program replicates machine instability and lift clearance. The job site popularity of compact track loaders, along with any inexperienced operator use, means a high rate of accidents and machine inefficiency. Trainees work on skills such as controls familiarization, addressing the risk of tipping, handling view-blocking material, live attachment changing, loading and unloading, and more.
