The Roadtec mid-size SX-5 soil stabilizer/reclaimer joins the larger 700 hp (522 kW) model in the company’s line of stabilizers/reclaimers. The SX-5 complies with Tier 4 and Stage IIIb emission standards with a 540 hp (403 kW) CAT C15 engine. Weighing in at less than 62,000 lbs (28,120 kg), the SX-5 is nimble yet powerful. Four cutting speeds and right-hand flush cut allow you to use the SX-5 for a range of projects including stabilizing, pulverizing, or cold recycling.
The SX-5 Soil Stabilizer/Reclaimer comes with a 96” (244 cm) wide cutter drum that has a diameter of 58” (147cm) (including cutting tools). The ability to deliver up to 398,000 in.lbs (45 kNm) of torque to the cutter allows a true cutting depth of 18” (46 cm).
Four Cutting Speeds to Suit Any Application
Select from four speeds depending on the material you’re working in. Speeds range from 101 rpm to 183 rpm. The machine can upcut as well as downcut. The mechanical V-belt drive includes an external belt tensioner.
Movable Drum for Better Material Flow
For deep stabilization the drum is set down lower in the housing. That creates the room needed for the increased amount of material flowing through when cutting deep. When mixing in additives, there’s enough room for effective mixing, and the extra room won’t allow the drum to get overloaded with too much material. For light lift reclamation the cutter moves into closer proximity to the housing and thus produces superior gradation. Position of the drum can be adjusted on the fly.
Machine Controls for Smooth Operation
The operator’s climate controlled cab and controls are located at the front of the machine. You can extend the cab up to 18” (46 cm) past the right side of the machine or retract it flush with the right side.
All SX-5 controls are mounted within easy reach of the adjustable spring-suspension seat. A joy stick controls all four tires. All the systems of the SX-5 are connected and communicate with each other to produce the most efficient machine operation. Machine functions and systems such as engine power, travel speed, cut depth, hydraulic systems and metering systems are always working together in harmony and in accordance with the job specs. The CAN Bus controls are fully compliant with SAE J1939.
Contractors can easily connect GPS systems for diagnostics and performance checks from remote locations.
Transmission for Power on Demand
The infinitely variable hydrostatic transmission can change steplessly through an infinite number of effective gear ratios, unlike other mechanical transmissions that only allow a few different discrete gear ratios to be selected. With our infinitely variable transmission you can get better fuel
economy and maximum production in all working conditions.
Optional Water/Emulsion System
A 500 gpm (1,893 Lpm) system is available to mix water or emulsion into the cut material. The system includes all pumps, meters, and spray manifolds and can operate manually or fully automatic.
