Putzmeister equipment aids in two record-setting continuous concrete pours within a month

A new record for the largest continuous concrete pour was set in Washington state when 13,690 cubic yards (10,467m³) of concrete was placed in 24 hours for the foundation of the 450-foot (137.16m) tall north tower at Lincoln Square.

A new record for the largest continuous concrete pour was set in Washington state for the foundation of the Lincoln Square South tower. However, it was short-lived, as less than a month later, the tower next to it beat the record. Vital to both high-profile concrete pours were Putzmeister placing systems, seven truck-mounted boom pumps and a high-pressure trailer pump — all supplied by Ralph's Concrete Pumping, Inc. of Seattle.

Putzmeister America, Inc. has unveiled its new .13 HPD Pump Cell, which will work with the brand-new 39Z-Meter Truck-Mounted Concrete Boom Pump. The BSA-grade pump kit is designed to be the highest-performing, longest-lasting pump cell on the market with a Rod Side output up to 180 yards3/hr (138 m3/hr), and Rod Side pressures of only 1,233 PSI (85 bar). It has been in development for a year, with 2,000 man-hours spent on its design.

Formwork expertise and largest Telebelt in the world required for complex project

Doka used 3-D modelling to design the complex formwork.

The Keeyask Generating Station, which is under construction in northern Manitoba, will provide 695 megawatts of capacity and produce an average of 4,400 gigawatt hours of electricity each year for use in Manitoba and for export. The project is located 725 kilometres north of Winnipeg on the Nelson River. Getting material and support to the site is difficult over the rough terrain, and due to the size of the project, the amount of equipment required at any one time is also a challenge.
