CAED convention features top-notch speakers
Members of the Canadian Association of Equipment Distributors (CAED) from across Canada will come together for the group’s Annual Convention in Victoria, B.C. from June 17 to 19. The three days will be filled with events, speakers and seminars, as well as networking and plenty of information regarding the equipment industry.
Set for the Harbour Hotel and Suites in downtown Victoria, the Annual Convention will begin with casual events and a reception on Sunday, June 17, then offer two days of speakers and seminars, as well as the association’s annual general meeting and election of officers.
Sunday’s events start with a golf tournament and the Chairman’s Welcome Reception, and speakers begin Monday morning with presentations by Dr. Kristy Duncan, of the University of Toronto, and Ralph Dunham, of Marsh Canada Limited, speaking on pandemic preparation. Monday also features presentations by British Columbia Minister of Transportation, Kevin Falcon, speaking on the Pacific Gateway project, and Dan Doyle, of the 2010 Winter Olympics Vancouver Organizing Committee, providing an update on construction projects leading to the Olympic Games.
Monday evening features a cocktail reception and the CAED Table Top Trade Show, as well as free time for meetings with manufacturers.
Tuesday will begin with two speakers on environment, health and safety topics, followed by a presentation by David Irvine, best-selling author of numerous books on human dynamics and development. John Allan, President of the BC Lumber Trade Council, will share his experiences in dealing with the Canada/U.S. softwood lumber dispute, and Denis Prevost, of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, will discuss the auction industry and how it has evolved into an efficient and profitable way to sell equipment. Johnson Insurance representatives Bonita Oliver and Shawn McCord will also speak.
Tuesday night wraps up with a closing dinner and presentation by award-winning entertainer Todd Butler.
The CAED represents more than 1,500 companies that supply equipment of all kinds to industries, from small to large. Founded in 1943, the CAED works to provide communication and networking among its members, cooperation between manufacturers and distributors, and encourages environmentally sound business practices.
