Genie extends Lift Guard Zone Lighting to GR Runabout Lifts

Genie's Lift Guard Zone Lighting option has been expanded to the GR Runabout vertical mast lift product line. The perimeter lighting system helps operators and nearby personnel more easily recognize the lift's operating footprint, particularly in congested indoor environments where multiple people or trades may be working in proximity. 

Demand for low-level access equipment continues to grow in applications that require lightweight machines capable of manoeuvring through tight spaces, passing through standard doorways, and travelling in passenger elevators. Data centre construction is one significant growth area, with lifts supporting electrical installation, cabling, and HVAC work, followed by ongoing facility maintenance. Similar access requirements are found in hospitals, warehouses, restaurants and cafés, airports, and museums.

"Employers are increasingly focused on collision and entrapment avoidance, as well as dropped object protection," said Mercer Nafe, Genie associate product manager, Verticals. "Providing information to the people working on or around MEWPs helps increase awareness of their surroundings, potentially reducing the risk of these types of incidents."

Adding a visual boundary to keep employees safer 

GR Runabout lifts combine compact dimensions and lightweight construction with the manoeuvrability needed for indoor access. Genie Lift Guard Zone Lighting adds an easily recognizable visual boundary without interfering with the machine's compact footprint, movement through confined spaces, or job site productivity.

Zone Lighting addresses that challenge with red laser lights that project a visual boundary at ground level approximately 61 centimetres (2 feet) from the chassis. The bright line is approximately 15 millimetres (0.6 inches) thick and designed to remain visible across indoor lighting conditions. It helps operators identify perimeter clearance while signaling to nearby personnel that they may be entering the lift's work zone.

Unlike a plastic LED lens, the glass lens used on Genie's Lift Guard Zone Lighting helps maintain visibility and resists fading over time. This durability consideration supports consistent performance throughout the accessory's service life.

Available globally as both a factory-installed option and an aftermarket retrofit kit, Zone Lighting gives equipment owners and rental companies flexibility to add the technology when purchasing new lifts or equipping machines already in their fleets. The expanded availability reflects Genie's approach to developing practical, durable accessories that support evolving work-zone awareness expectations without compromising productivity.
