The Sasquatch XTX was used to build a remote ice road, bringing vital supplies to mines in the Northwest Territories
ARGO, a manufacturer of ATVs, side-by-sides, unmanned ground vehicles, and amphibious Xtreme Terrain Vehicles, has completed the first of many difficult seasons in assisting the building process of a remote ice road in the Northwest Territories, Canada, with the Sasquatch XTX leading the way.
Headquartered in Yellowknife, N.W.T., RTL Construction, through its partnership with DTR First Nation's Construction Corp, completed building the 2025 Tibbitt to Contwoyto Winter Road (TCWR). The TCWR spans approximately 250 miles (400 kilometers) and is a vital supply chain link for mines in the Northwest Territories. This year, RTL Construction chose the ARGO Sasquatch XTX to be their lead vehicle to set out into the cold to ensure the crews following behind could complete their work safely.
The amphibious Sasquatch XTX offers a QX4 cab with a centralized HVAC system that can keep occupants comfortable in any type of weather. Seating for four allows the operator and passengers the comfort needed for those long days while the 360 viewing provides the operator needed sightlines to navigate any remote job site safely.
For peace of mind, the Sasquatch XTX is backed by a one-year bumper-to-bumper and three-year powertrain warranty.
The Sasquatch was met with extreme weather conditions
When asked about how the ARGO Sasquatch performed, Tim Rideout, lead operator of RTL Construction, stated, "With weather conditions ranging from temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius to heavy snow and blowing winds, those conditions will put any equipment to the test. I've been doing this work for 20 years, and I enjoyed this piece of equipment because it kept me warm throughout my entire 10- to 12-hour shift and has great steering, mobility, and visibility, making me and the other operators more efficient. The efficiency of the Sasquatch has allowed us to complete our portion of the TSCWR project ahead of schedule, which is great for business."
"When working in the bitter cold temperatures as we do (-40 degrees Celsius and below) on the world-renowned ice road, all you want at the end of the day is for your team to be in a piece of high-performing equipment which makes them feel confident doing their job, be warm and comfortable, and go home safe to their families at the end of the day, and this machine allows all of those to happen," said Dan Columbus, vice president of Health, Safety, and Environment and Northwest Territories Operations.
Brad Darling, president, and CEO of ARGO, spoke about the positive feedback received about the Sasquatch's performance in those tough conditions by saying, "The ARGO Sasquatch was meticulously developed to outperform and exceed expectations in any condition. The positive feedback received on its performance is a testament to the ARGO team and their ingenuity put into this product that can provide quality and safe solutions to any commercial job site, no matter how remote. Hearing everything RTL Construction was able to achieve by using the ARGO Sasquatch this year solidifies ARGO's three pillars: increase safety, improve productivity, and reduce operating costs."
