The FASTN system by Haulotte is being showcased at the 2025 ARA Show and is now available for ordering. The primary goal of the system is to ensure operator safety. Similar to seat belts in cars, FASTN helps contractors develop an anchoring reflex, which can help reduce the risk of falls - the leading cause of accidents when using a boom lift.

FASTN also logs all events during aerial work platform (AWP) usage, facilitating the evaluation of safety practices on worksites. The data collection enables companies to implement prevention campaigns and conduct thorough risk analyses if any near misses occur.

Helping reduce the risk of workplace falls

Falls from heights have consistently been the leading cause of fatalities in AWP accidents for many years. Between 2015 and 2023, the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) recorded over 175 deaths.

The FASTN system aims to bolster operator safety by creating secure lanyard attachments. FASTN offers several benefits on the job site:

  • Enhances harness use by creating an anchoring reflex
  • Improves worksite safety through data utilization
  • Allows for compatibility and easy installation

The 4 main risky situations detected by the system

1. Harness not attached

The operator is immediately alerted by an audible and visual alarm if using the machine without being attached to the system. If the lanyard is not anchored after a few seconds, the system also alerts the worksite with a blue flashing light and a louder alarm.

2. Operator fall or ejection

If the operator is anchored to the system and the system detects abnormal tension, it immediately alerts the worksite that the operator may have fallen or been ejected.

3. Operator unconscious or motionless

If the operator is anchored to the system and is inactive for 45 seconds, the system will issue an alert to indicate possible distress. This function is particularly useful for solo workers or a lack of ground staff responsible for monitoring operations.

4. System bypass

If the operator attempts to force the system using anything other than the snap hook on their harness, the system will detect inactivity and activate the wake-up function to warn of a potential issue.

Universal compatibility with all MEWPs

The FASTN system is designed for universal compatibility for all types of boom lifts, including those from Haulotte and other manufacturers. It is available for Haulotte booms in the RTJ, E, LE, and SIGMA ranges. FASTN can be installed as original equipment on new machines or as a retrofit option via a turnkey kit, available in the MyHaulotte spare parts catalog or through Haulotte subsidiary's services teams.

With a rapid installation time of less than 30 minutes, FASTN aims to enhance the safety of fleets. Installation and maintenance manuals are provided, allowing technicians to become familiar with the system. For added convenience, Haulotte technicians can handle the installation process on Haulotte machines.

Contractors will be able to purchase FASTN as a retrofit kit from Haulotte sales teams or directly from MyHaulotte genuine spare parts online shop. FASTN is also available for order as an option on new Haulotte machines through Haulotte subsidiaries.
