FAE introduces cold planer attachment for 8- to 14-ton excavators

An excavator fitted with a cold planer works on a roadbed.
The RPL/EX is a cold planer attachment for excavators in the 8- to 14-ton range. FAE

The RPL/EX is FAE's first road planer attachment for excavators, and is designed with cold planer technology to help in road repair and replacement efforts.

The RPL/EX scrapes down the road surface through the impact of special teeth attached to the rotor. It has a specially designed layout to increase performance and reduce vibration. With these features, the RPL/EX can be used to prepare roads for resurfacing or to simplify excavation operations.

Compatible with excavators from 8 to 14 tons, the RPL/EX can mill up to 5.3 inches deep, and features a working width of 18 inches. The head comes standard with technological and structural features that include an adjustable hydraulic base that allows users to manage the machine's working depth with precision. A wide-stroke self-leveling system allows for proper alignment of the head while in operation, and an adjustable right skid lets the operator keep the head aligned when overlapping.

The RPL/EX has specially designed teeth that will work on both asphalt and concrete road surfaces.
