A 100-ton mining truck isn't the first thing that attendees of CES 2023 will be expecting during the technology conference this January 5-8, 2023, but one will be central to the automotive technology area as Caterpillar shares innovations in hauling, automation, and other segments.

Cat will have autonomous haulage on display as part of its 6,300-square-foot exhibit in the Las Vegas Convention Center, as well as technology surrounding construction and mining safety, fleet management technologies, equipment health options, and more.

"CES, the proving ground for breakthrough technologies and global innovators, is the ideal place for us to showcase our high-tech leadership," said Denise Johnson, group president of Caterpillar Resource Industries. "People have seen us as an equipment company for more than a century, and they are now realizing that we are a high-tech company as well."

The 777 off-highway truck on display will include Cat MineStar Command, representing more than 560 autonomous trucks that, each day, travel a distance equivalent to twice the Earth's circumference, without a driver. These trucks have, over the past nine years, hauled more than five billion tonnes of material, and today they make up the largest single fleet of autonomous trucks operating at one site.

Cat Command stations will be on display at CES demonstrating the ability to operate equipment from hundreds of miles away. Caterpillar

Cat will focus on four themes in their CES booth:

  • Big Solutions highlights Caterpillar's leadership in developing the most advanced technologies in the world
  • Big Innovation showcases why Caterpillar is a recognized leader in autonomous mining
  • Big Responsibility covers how the company's technologies help build a better, more sustainable world
  • Big Opportunities focuses on the people creating the high-tech solutions

Attendees will be able to stand in the 777's bed and experience the impact that Cat technologies are making in mining and construction, as well as the positive impact mining makes on our world. Multiple augmented reality stations with iPads focus on different subjects, including autonomy and technology, sustainability, and the environment with a look at incorporating safety and power solutions, technology for safety in mining machines of all sizes, and the benefits of Cat autonomous solutions.

Two remote operating stations connected to equipment hundreds of miles away will demonstrate Cat Command technology. One will run a large dozer, while another will run an excavator.
