Hilti launches new, smarter cordless battery and tool line

Nuron platform produces more power than previous batteries, adds data collection options

Hilti's new Nuron battery system can power larger tools that previously were corded or gas-powered.

Hilti has introduced a new cordless battery system that provides users with a single battery platform across all of its tools, plus greater power and the ability to capture data that can be used to better manage tool and battery life.

The Nuron 22V battery platform will be available across nearly 70 tools in the Hilti line to start, including some heavy-duty tools that have previously only been available in corded or gas-powered offerings, such as jackhammers, large combi-hammers and others. Construction sites will be able to work in an entirely cordless format when using the Nuron system, Hilti states.

Inside, Nuron batteries have been redesigned to provide greater power output - Hilti says that the 22V unit can provide more than double the power of its existing 22V tools and in some cases can outperform larger 36V batteries. Status lights are always on to show battery condition as well as to alert operators if there are any issues arising. Fiberglass-reinforced housings and shock-absorbing bumpers help protect the battery, and electronics are sealed to protect against moisture, dust and jobsite contaminants.

Along with design updates to accommodate the new battery system, tools in the Nuron line have been designed with health and safety in mind - every tool is ergonomic, tether ready and equipped with Active Vibration Reduction as standard. Active Torque Control is available across many more tools in the Nuron range, and Hilti Dust Removal Systems are available for all Nuron tools.

Tool and battery management has been expanded with the addition of data collection through the Nuron system. Tools generate data that is collected and stored on the Nuron battery, and when that battery is charged the data is sent into the cloud without operator interaction. Data collected includes such items as tool usage, tool utilization, charging location and battery health. That data can then be used to alert individuals if there's immediate action required, or it can be accessed on-demand through Hilti's ON!Track software platform over mobile and desktop. Hilti Fleet Management tool data can take advantage of the collected data to help reduce downtime and improve productivity.

The Hilti Nuron system is available for order now, with delivery to start in March 2022 in Canada and the United States.
