VMAC has been recognized on the 2020 list of Best Workplaces for Giving Back, which is awarded to community-focused companies based on independent analysis by Great Place to Work.

VMAC has donated to numerous community organizations, including Nanaimo Science, Nanaimo Community Hospice, Nanaimo Search and Rescue, and North Cedar Fire Department, among many others.

In response to COVID-19, VMAC fabricated prototype parts for a low-cost, rapidly produced ventilator that is under development at the University of Minnesota. VMAC also donated N95 masks, general purpose masks, face shields and gloves to local health care workers.

"VMAC exists because our coworkers, their families, and our communities have supported VMAC for decades, allowing our company to become what it is today," said Tod Gilbert, President of VMAC. "Giving back is our way of saying thank you, while helping build a local and global community we are proud to be part of."

VMAC has a formal corporate sponsorship program, which invests in areas of the community that align with the company's guiding principle and core values. The program includes initiatives that support education, community events and recreation, community services, and youth sports and activities.

To be eligible for the Best Workplaces for Giving Back recognition, organizations must be Great Place to Work Certified in the past year and at least 90% of employees must feel good about the way their company contributes to the community.
