JCB emphasizes safety, durability of two new compact excavators for North America
JCB North America is offering two new compact excavators designed to meet the needs of construction, landscaping and rental customers. The largest of the two machines is the 19C-1, a 4,211-pound (1.9-tonne) conventional tailswing model. The smaller 18Z-1 has an operating weight of 3,856 pounds (1.8 tonnes) and is JCB's first zero tailswing machine in the one- to two-ton excavator class.
The JCB 18Z-1 and 19C-1 compact excavators share a common design philosophy, based on durability and simplified maintenance, and common features such as:
• All-steel bodywork for maximum impact protection.
• Rental-ready, durable design with protection for hydraulic rams and hoses.
• 500-hour greasing intervals to minimize operator burden and reduce downtime.
• Swing-out counterweight to provide full access to the engine bay; separate service access door to perform daily checks.
• Integrated tie-down points to aid transportation without damaging the tracks.
• Two-year/2,000-hour warranty.
"The JCB 18Z-1 and 19C-1 compact excavators are designed to exceed the requirements of the most demanding construction and rental customers," said Steve Fox, president of Product and Direct Sales for JCB North America. "They are more durable, require less maintenance and are safer to use than comparable one- to two-ton compact excavators. They get the job done, they're cheaper to operate, and they represent a better return on your investment over the life of the machine."
The 18Z-1 and 19C-1 share a common undercarriage with machined faces for optimal fit and extended component life. A revised idler design delivers improved ride quality and reduces track stalling in loose material. Additionally, the redesigned dozer blade, with easy-to-install dozer wings, is available with standard arms or optional long-reach arms that enable digging close to the machine. Tie-down points are built into the frame and positioned to ensure that ties do not damage the rubber tracks. Improved rubber tracks are standard; steel tracks an available option.
Less servicing, more service
Owners of the JCB 18Z-1 and 19C-1 compact excavators will benefit from simplified maintenance requirements and easier servicing. A 23.1 hp (17.2 kW) Perkins diesel engine is accessed via a rear counterweight that swings away to reveal the engine bay and battery. A separate door provides access to daily check points. Boom and dipper pins have 500-hour greasing intervals for reduced downtime. All body panels are constructed of steel, for enhanced protection, and side panels provide access to the cooling package, the valve block and tanks for hydraulic fluid and fuel.
The JCB 18Z-1 and 19C-1 use a next-generation, four-plate boom and dipper design. Two dipper arm lengths are available: 3 feet 1 inch (950 mm) or 3 feet 7 inches (1,100 mm). The 5-foot-11 (1,800 mm) main boom features a top-mounted ram to protect the hydraulic cylinder. JCB compact excavators enable use of a wide range of attachment brands.
Safety built in
The JCB 18Z-1 and 19C-1 compact excavators feature improved stability and are among the safest on the market. The cab and canopy structures provide more interior space – with more leg and shoulder room – and are ROPS-compliant. An improved seating position contributes to better all-round visibility. Additionally, both models are equipped with JCB's 2Go selectable hydraulic cut-out system as standard.
As one of the latest models in the R2-Series excavator lineup, the Bobcat® E88 delivers durability, performance and quality for more productivity. Technically speaking, it's a compact machine, but it brings big performance with its redesigned engine and optimized lift performance, plus undercarriage and counterweight improvements. All these enhancements make this excavator one of the highest-performing models in its size class. With impressive over-the-side lift capacity, you can dig with greater confidence over the side of the machine. Put it to the test against similar models from other manufacturers. You'll see that the E88 can outwork the competition.
