Manitowoc Cranes will showcase the Shuttlelift SCD15 at the 2018 edition of ARA's The Rental Show, which will take place in New Orleans from February 18 to 21.

Manitowoc debuted the 15 USt carrydeck crane at last year's Rental Show, and in 2018 the company aims to once again show customers how the SCD15 was designed with the rental market in mind.

"We listened to the needs of the rental industry, and the SCD15 is the result of those requests," said Briette Baxter, product manager for carrydeck cranes and boom trucks at Manitowoc. "It has many operator-focused features, and the overall design helps to lower both acquisition and operating costs. The SCD15 is built for manufacturing plants, refinery work, food processing, shipyards and similar applications that involve mass production and continuous maintenance."

Manitowoc's operator-focused design gives customers the opportunity to experience the comfort of the SCD15's spacious cab, which measures nearly five inches wider than previous models. Other operator-focused features include a split cab door with sliding glass windows; a full LED lighting package for improved, longer-lasting visibility; and a graphical, easy-to-learn Rated Capacity Limiter (RCL) system.

The SCD15 also has a storage tray and main storage box in the front centre of the carrier that are suitable for storing the downhaul ball, hook block or rigging equipment. An additional storage box is located on the right-hand side of the machine for stowing smaller tools or equipment for the operator.

"When rental companies send a piece of lifting equipment out, they often include a hook block, chains and a variety of other components that need to be stowed at some point," Baxter explained. "Carrydeck cranes are no different, and many of our customers expressed a need for more storage space. That's why we designed the SCD15 to accommodate each component that comes with it. This crane was built to be an essential tool in the rental customer's ‘tool box,' and there's no better forum to make our case than The Rental Show."
