Gehl has introduced a new skid-steer loader, which it claims in the worlds largest – the V420. This machine features a Tier 4, 120-hp Deutz engine and 4,200 pounds (1,905 kg) of rated operating capacity. This is an increase of 21.7 hp and 200 pounds in operating capacity over the V400, Gehl's previous model in this size range. For added performance for large jobs, the V420 offers 354 foot-pounds of torque.
With an operating weight of 11,665 pounds the V420 is the largest skid-stesr loader that is offered on the market today. It comes standard with cab, heat and air-conditioning; 14-pin connector for easy attachment use; two-speed for travel around the jobsite; and Gehl's patented hydraglide for a smoother ride and less material spillage from the attachment. A vertical lift path of almost 12 feet allows for excellent dumping and loading performance.
The V420 skid steer is configured to be a true tool carrier – coming standard with the features needed to operate attachments such as mulching heads, cold planers, rock wheels and more. High-flow auxiliary hydraulics are standard equipment and offer hydraulic flows up to 41 gpm for optimal performance. Five easily accessible auxiliary hydraulic lines with flat-face couplers are available on the front of the machine near the operator's station for easy access.
The V420 cab is spacious and comfortable with a suspension seat and pilot joystick controls. Excellent visibility is possible through a large, domed glass front door and wide side windows that can be opened. A foot throttle or hand throttle allows the operator to easily increase travel speed or machine functions. An optional rear-view backup camera provides increased visibility to the rear of the machine. A radio with hands-free Bluetooth allows for the operator to make calls or easily stream music from another device for a customized environment.
"With the V420, Gehl once again offers the largest skid loader in the market. With 4,200 pounds of operating capacity and 120.7 hp, this machine is built to handle tough applications, like demolition, heavy construction, major roadbuilding and infrastructure repair," said Nathan Ryan, global product line manager, skid-steer loaders. "The standard machine has been developed for the operator looking to run high-performance attachments in a spacious, comfortable operator station. This is a high-end machine for tasks that need high performance."
