Stellar Industries redesigns 20,000-pound-capacity hooklift line

Stellar’s lineup of 20,000-pound-capacity hooklift loaders offer a wide selection with many different lengths available from 102- to 200-inch cab-to-axle lengths for single rear axle truck chassis.
Stellar’s lineup of 20,000-pound-capacity hooklift loaders offer a wide selection with many different lengths available from 102- to 200-inch cab-to-axle lengths for single rear axle truck chassis.

Stellar Industries, Inc. is releasing a redesigned 20,000-pound-capacity hooklift line that has been upgraded and is lighter than the previous version. The Stellar Hooklift is a truck-mounted hydraulic system that is capable of interchanging various bodies.

One feature that has been incorporated into the redesign is the use of a plunger valve. This device stops jib movement when the hooklift is in dump mode. The plunger valve replaces the original rotary valve, which required maintenance. Without the need to monitor and adjust a rotary valve, there is less maintenance required over the life of the hooklift.

Design tools included finite element analysis and strain gauge validation testing. Through the design and manufacturing processes, the design of the line was streamlined, which reduces the weight of the hooklift by up to 100 pounds. This allows for a greater net payload.

While all six models in the 20,000-pound hooklift line were redesigned, all of the cylinders have remained the same, model to model. This is convenient for distributors that stock cylinder seal kits.

“At Stellar we are committed to continuous product improvement in order to provide our customers with the most efficient and hardest working equipment on the market today,” says Al Kuhlman, Assistant Product Manager for Stellar Industries. He continues, “Our engineering staff used the latest design technology available to them to redesign a faster, lighter and extremely durable unit while making it price competitive.”

The new model 120-16-20 debuts at Waste Expo in Las Vegas June 7-9, in booth 1761.

Cedarapids CR662RM Tier 4 Final RoadMix MTV and paver advances durability, improves operator comfort

The CR662RM RoadMix can be used on all paving lifts, including the critical base layer, to virtually eliminate all forms of material and thermal segregation.

Designed as both a material transfer vehicle (MTV) and paver to significantly increase utilization rates, the rubber track Cedarapids CR662RM RoadMix from BOMAG features a new 260-hp (191-kW) Tier 4 Final Cummins diesel engine that delivers the power needed for high production applications. Boasting a low, 21-psi fully loaded ground contact pressure, the CR662RM can be used on all paving lifts, including the critical base layer, to virtually eliminate all forms of material and thermal segregation. Unlike MTVs with empty wheel loads in excess of 75 psi, the low-psi rubber track RoadMix machine does not cause rutting on the base layer, can cross bridges fully loaded and is transported to the jobsite like a 10-foot paver, so contractors can finish mainline and airport paving applications quickly, efficiently and with high mat quality.
