Vacuum Lifting Makes Road and Bridge Work More Efficient

The Octapad from Vacuworx is a flat pad vacuum lifter for concrete slab removal during road and bridge construction. A vacuum lifter greatly reduces the need for traditional slab-removal methods such as air or hydraulic hammers, drills, cables and slab buckets.

Each pad has individual vacuum that can be shut off for areas of the slab that are too damaged to lift. The Octapad is designed for use with hydraulic excavators that can lift and place materials directly into a truck for removal without re-handling. Vacuum technology allows for complete removal of the slab from the road bed, leaving the sub-base undisturbed for the subsequent patch pour. This lifting system handles up to 16,588 pounds and is engineered to lift reinforced concrete slabs up to 6x12 feet, 12 inches thick.
