Perfect fusion of telehandler and tractor

The Alfred Boivin Group in Chicoutimi, Quebec owns and uses more than 1,000 machines for their winter and summer activities, but admits it has never had any equipment as efficient as their Merlo Multifarmer 30.9. And this company knows equipment, having more than 60 years of experience in fields such as civil engineering, drilling, and operating sand pits.

Merlo’s Multifarmer is the perfect fusion of a telehandler and a tractor. It has a telescopic boom at the front, and a three-point hitch and PTO at the back.
With its 6,600-pound capacity and 30-foot boom, the Multifarmer 30.9 is unique in its category. It features economic fuel consumption, 40kph travel speed, 360-degree visibility, a full anti-torsion chassis built with Merlo’s exclusive ring of steel, and Class I hydrostatic transmission.

It is the impressive versatility of the Merlo that appealed to Louis Savard, purchasing manager at Alfred Boivin Group. “It is very difficult to name just one benefit; not only can we use this machine 12 months a year, but it can do very different tasks from one season to the other. We use one Multifarmer for snow clearing, at Alcan for example, and use the telehandler functions on construction sites in the summer, besides using it in our yard occasionally. Multifarmer is very flexible.”

Another example is using the machine with a basket for the maintenance of conveyers. By doing this, Alfred Boivin Group saves on equipment (scaffolds, truck rental, aerial platform, etc.) and workforce, while increasing safety on the job site.
