When Sean Coghlan, owner of Shamrock Earthworks Ltd., first attended CONEXPO trade show in 2008, he was looking to find equipment and ideas that would make his business more efficient. He was intrigued by a device called a tiltrotator, demonstrated by dealers representing engcon, a Swedish firm. But he'd just started his Calgary, Alberta-based company, and knew he had to wait a while to make a significant investment.
Engcon's new EC233 series tiltrotator has a break torque of 340 kNm (240,771 lbf-ft), making it the market's most powerful tiltrotator built for excavators up to 33 metric tons, according to the company. The EC233 replaces Engcon's EC30, which has been serving Engcon's customers since the mid-1990s.
Engcon, the world's leading manufacturer of tiltrotators - a kind of tilting and rotating quick coupler for excavators - collaborates with most established manufacturers of machine control and excavator guidance systems to bring maximum benefit to customers. Trimble, the machine and excavator guidance systems manufacturer, has recently updated its systems to the new Earthworks Grade Control platform. Engcon today announces that it has already adapted its products for the new Earthworks generation.
