Among the top brands, many believe all excavators are the same. But when you look closely, you can spot the small differences in design that add up to huge differences in productivity and efficiency — differences that can boost your profitability.
Liebherr, which has been manufacturing and operating in Newport News for over 48 years, has announced that it is investing $45 million in the expansion of its Newport News, Virginia, facility.
The hydrostatic drive on Liebherr's new PR 766 means the diesel engine can be kept at a constant, optimally efficient speed, regardless of the load. The fact that speed fluctuations are avoided sets the Liebherr travel drive apart from all other large crawler dozer drive concepts currently available on the market, the company says. Essential drivetrain components are developed in-house and optimally coordinated, which increases the efficiency of the system as a whole.
Liebherr and KAMAZ have marked the start of production of the companies' mutually-developed 6-cylinder inline diesel engines, a process that began in 2014 when KAMAZ and Liebherr signed a cooperation agreement for the development of a new range of 6-cylinder in-line diesel engines with power output ranging from 300 to 520 kW (400 to 700 hp).
Autonomous Solutions, Inc. (ASI) and Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News Co. (Liebherr) have announced that Liebherr's new autonomous ready haul trucks will be compatible with ASI's autonomous command and control platform; MOBIUS. Liebherr's vision of an autonomous haul truck includes an open interface that enables the truck to integrate to ASI's Mobius platform. Liebherr's autonomous vehicles can be controlled under an OEM agnostic command system for autonomous vehicles, providing maximum flexibility for their customers.
Liebherr showed off its new PR 766 crawler tractor last week at an international press event in Leoben, Austria. With operating weights of between 46,200 kg and 54,200 kg, the PR 766 is the successor model to the successful PR 764. The latest model in the crawler tractor generation is driven by a powerful 310 kW (422 hp) 8-cylinder V-engine.
