Two new hydraulic excavators

Terex O&K has unveiled two new hydraulic excavators at the Bauma Fair in Munich. The new models RH 70 and the RH 340-B serve to complement the extensive Terex O&K excavator line that ranges in operating weight from 100 to 1,000 tons.
The new RH 70 is a 122-ton, heavy backhoe excavator that is powered by a Caterpillar C18 engine and provides an 8-cubic-metre, standard bucket capacity in combination with a 7.8 m monoboom and a 3.3 m stick. This is an additional 2-cubic-metre, or 33 percent, capacity increase, compared to the next smaller Terex O&K unit RH 40-E. The RH 70 features electric-over-hydraulic controls and offers the largest operator cab in its class, including a durable control panel specifically made for mining applications. Other key features are a triple-race swing-roller bearing with internal lube lines and a fully independent oil cooling system. The RH 70 nicely pairs with 50-to-120 ton trucks.
The main reason for the incredible success of the RH 340 excavator is its innovative attachment design, offering increased bucket payload with lighter components. The new RH340-B model is powered by two Caterpillar 3512C engines but also provides the option of two Cummins QSK 45s. Both engine sets deliver a massive output of 2,240 kW (3,000 hp). Another innovation is a more powerful hydraulic system with higher-capacity main pumps, delivering an impressive oil flow of 4 x 1,300 li-tres per minute. There are four main valve blocks to accommodate this higher oil flow.
