Highway takeoff software

Highway takeoff software
Cross Sections 2.0 is Quest Solutions’ latest version of its highway takeoff software. It offers important new features, and is based on a new, more advanced development language. While Cross Sections has always calculated cut and fill, this new version allows contractors to break out separate sections of a road, such as a ditch, a specific lane or median, and calculate their individual cut and fill quantities, each incorporating multiple levels of bedding, backfill, asphalt and other materials. This will enable contractors to conform to varying DOT specifications.

Cross Sections is also now based on the sophisticated C# (C Sharp) development language, which enables programmers to write the program’s code quickly. As a result, Quest is able to get improved versions of Cross Sections out to its customers more rapidly.

Says Mike Gillum, Quest’s Director of Research and Development, “This version brings Cross Sections in line with the developmental standards of Estimator, our flagship estimating product. Though programming language is invisible to customers, its benefits are not.” C# was utilized by Quest for the first time last year, with the release of Estimator 7.0.
