APWA snow show offers tips and gear
With more than 1,000 attendees yearly, the American Public Works Association North American Snow Conference is a major crossroads where snow fighters from all across the continent, professionals with new ideas and solutions, and the top manufacturers of snow products meet. This year’s edition will take place April 22 to 25 at the RiverCentre in St. Paul, Minnesota, and features the second year of full-sized equipment displays as part of the trade show along with several days of education sessions on a wide range of topics.

The trade show floor opens Sunday evening, April 22 at 5 p.m. for a welcome reception, and will continue on Monday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Tuesday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Education sessions focus on all aspects of snow removal and maintenance work, from training new plow operators to effective anti-icing and de-icing techniques. Management sessions are included, as are discussions of getting the best out of equipment fleets and many other topics. Wednesday’s activities include two technical tours, one taking attendees to the Minnesota Department of Transportation Central Services Shop, and the other to the Regional Transportation Management Center and to look at an anti-icing system on the Interstate 35 bridge crossing the Mississippi River.
