Show Preview: National Demolition Association (NDA)

If you’re involved in demolition, the National Demolition Association’s (NDA) 34th Annual Convention is a great place to network and see the latest products, technologies and applications designed to make work safer, easier and more profitable. This event is “the largest exposition of demolition equipment and services in the world”, and takes place this year, April 1-4, 2007, in Las Vegas at the Mirage Resort and Casino’s 90,000 square-foot Events Center.

The National Demolition Association is a non-profit trade organization representing more than 900 U.S. and Canadian companies which offer standard demolition services, as well as a full range of demolition-related services and products. The NDA’s educational efforts help members stay abreast of regulatory and safety matters, and keep regulators informed about issues facing their industry. In addition, the NDA is dedicated to increasing public awareness of the industry, as well as providing members with information on the latest technical advances in equipment and services.

The Association is expecting a record turn-out this year, and has recently reported more than 140 registered exhibitors, including sold out exhibit space in the show’s main hall, and an expanded show floor in the Montego Ballroom to accommodate demand. “We’ve quickly sold out our main exhibit hall, but we always can find space for more exhibitors” said Michael R. Taylor, CAE, executive director of the National Demolition Association. “We are expecting the same enthusiastic turnout by attendees at the convention, as well, most of whom have found this event to be a tremendous networking opportunity.” Thanks for the “ink” on our upcoming 34th Annual Convention at the Mirage in Vegas. We have over 140 companies exhibiting this year and have taken an additional ballroom, the Montego, across from our main Exhibition Center area at the Mirage to accommodate 33 additional exhibitors in that space. “ I would say that there are several major reasons for Canadian contractors to attend,” continued Taylor. “ First, our show is the largest exposition of demolition equipment and services in the world which means if you do any kind of demolition, whether as a contractor or GC, trucking firm or landfill operator, there is something at our show that will help you do your work safer and more profitably. We have been conducting a year long membership targeting over 13,000 companies in both the U.S. and Canada involved with the demolition process to join the National Demolition Association” he said.

The NDA has also announced that new or current member companies which have never attended a demolition convention before will be offered a free registration for one representative and a spouse to attend. Basic registration for exhibitors and attendees includes admittance of the registrant and spouse to all convention events, including inspiring talks by two keynote speakers, and five educational, business-building sessions by experts in areas such as marketing, OSHA compliance, worker’s compensation, and skilled support services for first response teams.

The cost of registration also includes an invitation to the Opening Night Cocktail Reception and the Annual Banquet, as well as the National Demolition Association’s spectacular Monday Night Polynesian Luau. “Our Monday night theme parties have become legendary,” Taylor declared. Plus, in addition to the Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, March 30th, the Association will be raffling off another Harley Davidson motorcycle to be presented at the 2008 NDA show (also in Las Vegas). There will be presentations on worker safety as part of the Association’s OSHA Alliance, risk management for demolition contractors, building better business programs and much more.

The show is at The Mirage Resort and Casino. Hours are: Sunday, April 1, 2007 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm; Monday, April 2, 2007 11:30 am to 4:00 pm; and Tuesday, April 3, 2007 11:30 am to 4:00 pm.
