Dealer expands rapidly with construction trailer line
When the opportunity arose several years ago for Jim Hawk Truck Trailers to take on the Load King line of construction trailers, they approached it with the same vigour as they did their other lines of dry vans, flatbed trailers and refrigerated units. The result has been impressive: the company was named Load King’s Startup Dealer of the Year in their first year of operation, and Dealer of the Year the following year.
According to company president Jim Hawk, their success with the new line has been due both to the quality of the product and the people he has backing it. “Load King has done very well for us and a good deal of the reason for that is because they have a reputation for quality. This is still a relatively new line for us, yet they already represent about 15 percent of our annual sales. That says they are well-respected in the field.” Tom Norcross, National Sales Manager for the specialized group of construction trailers, says “When I’m with a customer, the first thing I do is detach the gooseneck. They need to see the benefits that design can bring them.” Norcross says it is the fastest, safest design in the industry.
He also likes the fact that Load King listens to its customers and makes design improvements based on their input. “It’s what made their bottom dump trailer the industry leader. “In most cases, a customer does not come to us with a specific request. They only know they have a particular piece of equipment that needs to be moved; they rely on us to show them how best to make that happen.
Armed only with their equipment specs, Load King can give us back a detailed CAD representation of what trailer – in either a standard or a custom design – would work best for them. That level of support is invaluable to a sales force.”
