Trimble makes 3D grade control more accessible with new Earthworks configuration
The DA2 GNSS receiver configuration provides a scaled-down solution for price-conscious customers

Trimble's new configuration of the Earthworks grade control platform for excavators utilizes dual DA2 GNSS receivers. Designed specifically to meet the needs of cost-sensitive customers, this new offering significantly lowers the barrier to entry for machine control technology while providing a 3D positioning solution that helps operators work more efficiently and with high accuracy.
The new Earthworks configuration is designed for small- to mid-size excavators
The DA2 GNSS receiver adds yet another option to Trimble's extensive portfolio of on-machine technology, with multiple options available to meet the needs of a wide variety of users. The new field-proven DA2 Earthworks configuration is targeted at small- to mid-size contractors who are ready to take the next step into 3D workflows and take advantage of the efficiency gains that are unlocked by 3D grade control.
The new configuration includes the Trimble ProPoint positioning engine, which is engineered to provide superior positioning accuracy even in challenging environments. It is available via a Trimble Works subscription, which includes Trimble WorksManager, further lowering upfront costs.
The introduction of the new Trimble Earthworks configuration also enables more customers in more regions to leverage the benefits of the Trimble ecosystem, which streamlines the flow of data between the field and the office and connects project stakeholders with accurate and up-to-date data for better overall decision-making.
"The new Trimble Earthworks configuration provides an exceptional price-to-performance ratio for the machine control market," said Cameron Clark, senior director, earthmoving solutions at Trimble.
"Other cost-competitive options tend to compromise on precision and reliability. We know that every minute of downtime or poor performance equals lost revenue for our customers, so we are pleased to announce a full 3D machine control solution available as a subscription that enables cost-sensitive customers to improve productivity and profitability. This means our customers can adopt technology earlier, scale faster, and improve productivity across more machines."
