Komatsu Ltd. will acquire Malwa Forest AB, a manufacturer of forestry machines, through Komatsu Forest AB. The acquisition is scheduled to be completed on April 1, 2026, subject to the completion of all required closing procedures and other conditions.

Komatsu expands its lineup with Malwa's compact and lightweight forestry CTLs

A necessary stage of healthy tree development and forest growth is frequent thinning to remove small, damaged, or crowded plants. A common issue with thinning operations can be damaged tree roots, which may negatively affect following growth stages. In Nordic regions, soil remains soft for longer periods due to snowmelt and heavy rainfall. As a result, demand is increasing for forestry machinery that can perform thinning tasks while minimizing damage to soil and tree roots. Malwa is a specialized manufacturer of CTL forestry machinery for thinning operations that meet these standards. Its product lineup includes lightweight and compact wheeled harvesters and forwarders with excellent manoeuvrability.

Through this acquisition, Komatsu will gain technological capabilities and a product lineup of  lightweight and compact CTL forestry machinery suitable for thinning operations and will pursue synergies by leveraging its global sales and service network. By providing a broader range of options to meet the mechanization needs of forestry operations, from lightweight and compact machines that minimize soil impact to highly productive large machines, Komatsu aims to contribute to value creation across the entire circular forestry process.
