The new 510 P-Tier excavator model from John Deere will replace the 470 P-Tier with enhancements made to performance, fuel efficiency, and various levels of grade management technology. Building on the foundation of the previous model, the 510 P-Tier provides low operating costs and optional SmartGrade Grade Control technology to maximize productivity.

Features on the 510 P-Tier excavator

With a 9.0L John Deere Power Systems engine, the 510 P-Tier delivers the same net horsepower and responsive performance as the 470 P-Tier's larger 13.5L engine, while reducing fuel consumption, depending on application and operating speed. This efficiency gain is driven in part by a new electronic, on-demand cooling system that replaces traditional hydraulic fans, reducing engine load. The cooling package features ten electric fans (E-Fans) that optimize airflow while maintaining adequate cooling performance.

The 510 P-Tier is designed to reduce total cost of ownership, in part due to a 10 percent decrease in maintenance costs and a 16 percent drop in repair expenses, over the machine's full lifecycle, compared to the 470 P-Tier.

Smart machine technology integrated into the new model

Building on John Deere's commitment to intelligent solutions, the new 510 P-Tier offers the same grade management technology options as the 470 P-Tier. Operators can reach grade faster and achieve more points on grade, helping eliminate costly rework and additional job site inputs caused by over-excavation. Buyers can choose from 2D Grade Guidance, 2D SmartGrade Ready Control, or full 3D SmartGrade. Additionally, the right, rear, and left camera systems with LED surround lighting come standard and are integrated into the main monitor of the machine.

"We maintained the same net horsepower to give operators the impressive performance they expect from a 51 metric ton machine," states Justin Steger, product marketing manager at John Deere. "The additional value to the customer is found in lower ownership and operating costs with this machine."
