France was home again this year to the biggest motorcycle beach race in the world, the Enduropale du Touquet Pas-de-Calais, which has drawn motorsport enthusiasts from around the world for more than 30 years.

The race tests the endurance of competitors, but the challenge starts much earlier when the track construction begins - and continues throughout the event with maintenance. To meet those challenges, the BOULARD TP company relies on a Liebherr PR 716 crawler dozer.

The Enduropale du Touquet Pas-de-Calais sprawls across wide stretches of beach, undulating dunes, and narrow tracks, providing more than 2,700 competitors with a demanding race over a 13-kilometre route.

BOULARD TP selected the PR 716 crawler dozer to head up a fleet of equipment that transforms the beach at Le Touquet into a track for quads and motorcycles over three weeks. The extreme versatility of the PR 716 makes it suitable for operation under almost all prevailing weather and soil conditions. The combination of solidly built design and powerful drive delivers pushing performance and stable operation regardless of the conditions. Wide tracks ensure optimum weight distribution while minimizing ground pressure, which gives specific advantages on soft or uneven terrain like the motorcycle beach track.

The hydrostatic drive of the crawler dozer is ideal for these conditions, even when turning on the spot; all steering movements are quick and effortless.

Automatic machine controls and Operator Assistance Systems are increasingly being used on dozers to meet demands for speed and precision. Generation 8 Liebherr crawler dozers have three levels of assistance systems: Free Grade for active blade stabilization during fine grading; Definition Grade for automatic blade conditioning when creating 2D surfaces; and 3D Grade for complex terrain modeling. When creating race tracks, Definition Grade simplifies the process, saving time and resources.
