Hamm compactors are available with drums designed to handle two jobs: both crushing and compacting rock and stone. This pairing can lead to more streamlined processes on construction sites, where vibration crusher (VC) compactors can reduce the work and expense needed to prepare and transport material.

The HC 250i C VC, available with Tier 4 Final/ EU Stage V emissions, is capable of crushing and compacting mixed soils, stone like basalt and granite, and other construction materials with comparable resistance in one step. Another machine, the HC 250 C VC, will also be available for regions with Tier 3 emissions regulations in August of 2024.

Powered by a Deutz engine and featuring reinforced components around the front frame, three-point articulation, and underbody, the new compactors are designed for rugged operation. They also have a reinforced drum drive, capable of managing inclines of up to 60 percent. The machines are equipped with heavy-duty tires for rocky terrain as standard. A driver's cab, featuring a seat with extended backrest or optional air-sprung driver's seat, is standard. Hamm has included the Easy Drive operating system as standard.

A new tool holder system ensures the new VC compactors are compatible with round-shank cutting tools for stone, as well as wear-resistant heavy-duty cutting tools with carbide tips and hard facing for abrasive stone or hard stone. Hamm has designed the tool holder system, and how the tool inserts attach, to ensure that assembly and removal are quick, with no need for special tools. This helps keep maintenance and service costs down. Existing machines (H 25i VC/3625 VC) can also be fitted with the new tool holder system by switching the drum. Transport rings are available for easy transport.

New VC Series compactors can be used in crushing and compacting to create a stable substrate, but also can take on other roles such as reducing rubble in landfill sites. These compactors can be used for road works in tunnel building, and to pre-crush and loosen stone in surface mining operations.
