PCL Construction Confirms Start Date for Rogers Place

PCL Construction has announced the approval for construction of the new $480 million Edmonton Downtown Arena, Rogers Place. After delivering the guaranteed maximum price (GMP) on budget, PCL Edmonton will now become the construction manager for the arena project.

We are thrilled to be part of a project that will be a catalyst for growth and for transforming the city’s downtown core,” said Alan Kuysters, VP and district manager for PCL Edmonton. “Being awarded a project of this magnitude and scope in Edmonton, the home of PCL’s North American Headquarters, is something that we are very proud of.” The GMP provided by PCL also brought cost certainty to the four other integral components of the project: the community rink, Winter Garden, LRT connection, and pedestrian pedway. Rogers Place will be one of Edmonton’s iconic structures for many years to come and the future home of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers.

Preconstruction began in April 2012. The groundbreaking is scheduled for March 2014, with completion scheduled for the start of the 2016–17 National Hockey League season.
