Pickup drivers looking for fuel efficiency combined with performance can find both in the 2024 Ram 1500, which offers two engines equipped with a mild hybrid system along with other fuel options.

And, for performance fans, Ram is celebrating the end of its 6.2-litre supercharged V8 production with a special TRX edition with a range of special trim, colours, and features.

The Ram 1500 is powered standard by a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 featuring the eTorque mild hybrid system. The eTorque hybrid design removes the traditional alternator and replaces it with a belt-drive 48V generator. A simpler design than full hybrid powertrains, the motor generator unit provides energy to a battery when the engine is on. That battery then provides energy for various vehicle systems, while also maintaining the charge on the truck's traditional 12V battery.

The eTorque unit collects energy generated while braking and decelerating that would otherwise be lost as waste heat, and then can push that back into engine operations such as the automatic stop-start system that aids in reducing fuel use. Its overall impact boosts fuel efficiency and ensures plenty of power for situations like cold-weather starts.

With eTorque in place, the V6 engine produces 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque. Users who need a little more power can step up to the 5.7-litre eTorque HEMI V8 with variable-valve timing, generating 395 hp and 410 lb.-ft. of torque.

The performance-driven 6.2-litre HEMI V8 in the Ram 1500 TRX offers 702 hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque.

The 1500 features a payload of 2,300 pounds and a maximum towing weight of 12,750 pounds.

Technology features have been expanded in the 2024 Ram 1500, centered around the Uconnect 5 system which features split-screen capability, 360-degree camera views, and entertainment options. The Know & Go mobile app provides owners with an immersive experience to learn more about their trucks. Active safety and security systems include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Ready Alert Braking.

Ram also features the RamBox cargo management system plus relocatable anchor points, bed divider, and multifunction tailgate with a centre bed step to make bed use easier and more effective.
