Robert Bosch Power Tool Corporation and Simpson Strong-Tie Alliance Moves into High Gear

Last year at this time, Robert Bosch Tool Corp., Mt. Prospect, Ill., a leading global manufacturer of professional power tools and accessories, and Simpson Strong-Tie Company Inc., Pleasanton, Calif., a leading provider of concrete, masonry and anchor repair solutions, launched their strategic alliance at the STAFDA convention. Now they’re a powerful team bringing the concrete construction market the most complete end-to-end concrete anchoring solution available. And that’s just for starters.

“Everyone expected great things from the Bosch/Simpson Strong-Tie alliance when we signed up last year. It made sense not just to us, but the industry,” said Mike Clancy, vice president-sales, Bosch North America. “It’s been a great year and these alliance partners are in lock step. We’ve added new sales partners, we’ve enhanced the product line and we’re developing ideas together. That’s what we hoped it would be and that’s what it is.”

This strategic agreement gives the companies’ distribution partners and customers access to the broadest commercial and residential anchoring and restoration product portfolio in the concrete construction industry. Distribution partners representing Bosch and Simpson Strong-Tie have been able to gain market share from direct sellers in the concrete tool, accessory, anchoring, installation and repair segments.

The alliance has brought to market a complete Bosch/Simpson Strong-Tie installation system that saves contractors up to an hour a day on the job, including adhesive and mechanical anchors, demolition and rotary hammers and accessories. In addition, joint jobsite customer training for installers and managers is underway. On the engineering side, Bosch and Simpson Strong-Tie are working on the next generation of product through coordinated product development that incorporates technical resources for Bosch and Simpson Strong-Tie. This will continue to add to the productivity gains for contractors.

“There’s usually a ramp-up period for a large initiative like this,” said Bill Georges, vice president, infrastructure, commercial and industrial, Simpson Strong-Tie North America. “But we’ve been driving hard right out of the gate with Bosch. People in this industry notice that. ‘Stronger Together’ is our identifier for the program, but it’s not just a tagline. We really live it.”
