United Rentals celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022 while celebrating what United Rentals says was a landmark year.

The report highlights the company's progress in sustainability both in its operations and in its offerings. Notably, 31 percent of the company's rental fleet consists of electric or hybrid equipment. Additionally, United Rentals introduced an emissions tracking tool on its Total Control platform.

United Rentals welcomed 8,000 new team members in 2022. United Rentals says that the company's dedication to diversity and welcoming new employees to the 1UR culture yielded positive results, increasing diversity in sales and management positions and improving an already strong retention rate.

Because of these achievements, United Rentals has earned multiple awards. In 2023, United Rentals was named a JUST 100 company, listed on Glassdoor's 100 Best Places to Work, and also appeared on Newsweek's lists of America's Most Trustworthy and America's Most Responsible Companies.

"This momentum, and the determined enthusiasm of our teams, is what will energize us for the next 25 years and beyond," says Matthew Flannery, chief executive officer at United Rentals. "It feels good to prove that an ethical, sustainable business can also be a profitable, successful business."

United Rentals' 2022 Corporate Responsibility Report was developed in alignment with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines and contains a Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) index. The company also published a separate and expanded task force on climate-related financial disclosures (TCFD) report.
