FPT Industrial brought an entire family of engine options to CONEXPO in 2023, including diesel and hybrid options intended for a variety of uses.

Central to the show for FPT was the F28 family of engines, designed to provide the performance of a 3.4-litre engine in a 2-litre package. The F28 is available for construction and industrial applications, including aerial lifts, telehandlers, pumps, welders, chippers, and trenchers. It is designed out of the box with a multi-fuel capability, sharing common base components for diesel, natural gas, and hybrid versions.

The F28 PowerPack pre-assembled engine solution is compact and includes all after-treatment components, designed to simplify installation. It features maximum power of 55 kW (75 hp) and is designed for oil change intervals of 600 hours for reduced operating costs.

FPT also showed a hybrid version of the F28, which features a renewable diesel compatible engine paired with an e-flywheel. A 75 hp version showed at CONEXPO, with a 48V electric motor capable of adding 27 hp of continuous electric power and up to 40 hp in peak power.

In addition, FPT brought its F34 PowerPack solution, a 75-horsepower, 235-lb.-ft. torque Tier 4 Final system designed for low operating costs and easy maintenance in a compact layout. The aftertreatment pack, without DPF, minimizes engine downtime and operating costs with a 600-hour service interval. The F36 PowerPack is targeted at stationary and semi-stationary uses, and again features an aftertreatment system that eliminates the need for dedicated exhaust system development, FPT states. A range of options is available to meet user needs. The 3.6-litre F36 generates 141 horsepower.

At the larger end of the engine spectrum was the N67, a 288-hp engine with a maintenance-free aftertreatment system that maximizes uptime and reduces operating costs. EGR-free combustion and single stage turbocharging maximize power and optimize fuel efficiency.

FPT's Cursor 16 is a 15.9-litre beast that delivers high performance and power-to-weight. A 2200-bar common rail system, ball-bearing turbocharger, high-resistance cylinder head in compacted graphite iron, and more all aid this engine in producing 700 hp and 2,204 lb.-ft. of torque.

All FPT Industrial Tier 4 Final and Stage V engines presented at CONEXPO are compatible with renewable fuels and capable of aiding users in achieving net-zero emissions goals.
