Evolving traffic needs drove plenty of construction work across Ontario during the early- to mid-20th Century.
Thanks to the advent of the automobile, the 20th Century was one of road construction, and the province of Ontario was no different than anywhere else - as it grew, the number of cars grew, and the need of good road infrastructure followed. This film from the provincial archives shows off a number of projects - the construction of the Trans-Canada Highway, Welland Canal tunnels, bridge, and more.
