Chevrolet has introduced the first-ever Silverado ZR2 as part of its 2022 model lineup.

Chevrolet has updated its popular Silverado for 2022, adding a variety of new features including the first-ever Silverado ZR2 off-road model.

The 2022 enhanced Silverado also features an elevated exterior design, and, a new, expressive interior with enhanced technology. Changes include a 13.4-inch-diagonal touchscreen standard on LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ and High Country, available Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology with trailering on High Country. Also new for 2022 is an enhanced, stronger version of the 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine that offers more torque than any base engine in it's class.

"Chevrolet has a reputation for building trucks that have incredible performance and capability that Canadians rely on for work and play," said Michael MacPhee, brand director for Chevrolet Canada. "With the reveal of the New 2022 Silverado we build on our legacy and introduce the First -Ever Silverado ZR2 - Chevrolet's ultimate full-size off-road truck ready for any adventure."

Engine options get update

2022 Silverados will be powered by a strengthened and streamlined set of engine options. The 2.7L Turbo engine features a new, more rigid cylinder block casting complemented by a stiffer crankshaft; these and other enhancements allow the engine to generate an estimated maximum torque of 420 lb.-ft., more than 20 percent greater than the current engine. Its complementing eight-speed automatic transmission has also been optimized.

Also seeing improvements is the popular 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel. Along with chassis changes allowing inclusion of the max tow pack, the engine now provides a max tow rating of 13,300 pounds in a two-wheel-drive configuration.

Other engines include the proven 5.3L V-8 with Dynamic Fuel Management, and the 6.2L V-8 — the most powerful naturally aspirated V-8 engine in the segment, according to Chevrolet. All V-8 engines and the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel are paired exclusively with a 10-speed automatic transmission for retail customers.

Also standard on those trims, Google built-in offers access to Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play on the infotainment screen. This works with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, offering new customization capabilities.
