Maximizing Productivity of Concrete Mixer Trucks

It is one thing to invest time and money into the purchase of a mixer truck but quite another to make sure it is being used efficiently.

Mack Trucks is making this possible with a new dispatching, analytics and customer service tool. They have partnered with a provider, WheresMyConcrete, to provide up-to-the minute information on concrete shipments via GuardDog Connect, Mack’s factory-installed integrated telematics platform. 

GuardDog Connect is the enabling platform for Mack Fleet Management Services, eliminating the need for aftermarket hardware purchases and installation costs. WheresMyConcrete is a cloud-based system and the latest addition to Mack’s growing collection of Fleet Management Services, designed to save both time and money.

“WheresMyConcrete helps Mack’s ready-mix customers better track vehicles, while also offering analytics to improve operational performance, enabling the more efficient management of their trucks,” said Tim Wrinkle, Mack construction product manager. 

WheresMyConcrete is available on Mack trucks equipped with a Mack engine, including the Pinnacle, Granite, TerraPro and LR models. GuardDog Connect is standard on these Mack models. 

GuardDog Connect enables real-time monitoring of a truck’s engine, transmission and aftertreatment systems. If an issue is detected, GuardDog Connect – through Mack ASIST and Mack OneCall – offers an initial diagnosis, schedules repairs and confirms that needed parts are in stock and ready to install, all while the truck is still on the job. GuardDog Connect also offers proactive communication of critical information to a customer’s predetermined decision-maker, helping to maximize uptime. 

Customized use
WheresMyConcrete can be tailored to ready-mix customers’ needs, including those who need only GPS tracking of their trucks. Additional features can be bundled to enhance the service, including digital tickets, electronic billing, sales tracking and analytics, and driver payroll management. Ready-mix customers are able to access WheresMyConcrete’s up-to-the-minute information either online or through a free mobile app.

WheresMyConcrete also allows contractors to download a free app to track deliveries with live traffic and up-to-the-minute ETAs, improving delivery precision. Contractors also can see current, upcoming and past orders, review digital tickets and signatures, and pay invoices online.

Ready-mix companies can also access powerful analytics offered by WheresMyConcrete for a detailed look at yards/man-hours, dead time, driver performance and contribution margin analyses.
