DEUTZ to supply engines to Takeuchi
DEUTZ has signed up Takeuchi Mfg. Co., Ltd as a new collaboration partner in the construction machinery segment. The Japanese company was founded in 1963 and manufactures compact excavators and tracked carriers.
From mid-2016 Takeuchi will be equipping its new TB295W wheeled excavator and its new TB2150 tracked excavator with Deutz's TCD 3.6 diesel engine. The engines meet the Stage 4 emissions standard that currently applies in Japan as well as EU Stage IV and US EPA Tier 4 Final. The standard exhaust aftertreatment system features a diesel oxidizing catalytic converter (DOC) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR). For more strictly regulated markets such as Switzerland and for municipal applications in Germany, a diesel particulate filter (DPF) is used. With DPF the machines also meet EU Stage V, which will come into force in 2019.
Deutz's water-cooled, four-cylinder in-line engine produces 55.4 to 100 kW at 2,200 revolutions per minute. It has a highly compact design and a modular system of optional add-on components that offer the customer greater flexibility and lower installation costs. The DVERT (Deutz Variable Emission Reduction Technology) system is also modular and meets the individual requirements of various markets thanks to the standard DOC/SCR solution and the optional DPF/SCR solution. This exhaust aftertreatment system is provided to Takeuchi as a fully assembled drop-in solution, which makes installation much easier.
Mr. Hiroshi Yokoyama, Research and Development General Manager at Takeuchi, commented: "We are delighted to be collaborating with Deutz on our Stage IV excavators. Modular exhaust aftertreatment is hugely beneficial for us and we are reaping the rewards from Deutz's experience in exhaust technology."
Michael Wellenzohn, member of the Board of Management of Deutz AG with responsibility for Sales/Service & Marketing, added: "We are delighted to have secured Takeuchi as a customer in the field of compact excavators. Takeuchi is among the most highly regarded manufacturers in this segment. Together we are looking ahead to a successful partnership."
