Wacker Neuson re-engineers walk-behind tandem rollers
Wacker Neuson has re-engineered its walk-behind tandem rollers making them easier to operate and service as well as improving compaction performance. The RD7 models are designed for a wide range of soil and asphalt compaction applications and are now available with a choice of diesel or gasoline engines.
The RD7 roller series offers an exclusive compact design with dual smooth, beveled edge drums that allow for tight side clearance on both sides of the roller making it ideal for compaction of asphalt and granular materials in confined areas. A new patent-pending handle design offers multiple gripping points for easier control and turning of the unit, plus a centre handle allows the operator fine control while finishing asphalt. In addition, the RD7 has a shorter wheel base and reduced overall weight that also contributes to the easy turning of the unit.
Other features that enhance operator comfort and convenience include an easy-to-reach throttle and low/high exciter force controls that are conveniently located on the shockmounted, low vibration handle. The large water tank with easy access cap and quick view of the water level provide for longer running time between refills. The handle features a unique foot operated handle lock that allows for easy tilting of the handle for storage.
The RD7 rollers have an open frame design that provides for fast cleaning with a pressure washer and the easy access components which simplifies service and significantly reduces downtime between uses. The total hydrostatic drive, with all hydraulic hoses and cables protected from damage, contribute to long life and low maintenance of the rollers.
The RD7He is powered by an 8.2-hp Hatz diesel engine with electric start and has an operating weight of 1,624 pounds. The RD7A is power the newest addition to the line and is powered by a 9.7-hp Honda gasoline engine with an operating weight of 1,512 pounds. Both models have a drum width of 25.6 inches and feature a high centrifugal force of 4,998 pounds of force and low centrifugal force of 2,935 pounds.
