DPL Telematics Releases Satellite Communications for Titan Equipment Monitoring System

DPL Telematics has announced the availability of global satellite communications for its Titan Equipment Monitoring System. The Titan is an advanced telematic solution for wireless monitoring and remote tracking of off-road equipment, as well as over-the-road trucks, to increase productivity while reducing fleet costs. Leveraging Iridium’s low latency satellite network, Titan users will now communicate with their assets anywhere on the globe, regardless of cellular availability.

The Titan Equipment Monitoring System allows managers to wirelessly monitor all their assets continually and accurately from a robust, Internet based software package and mobile app. Satellite communicated reporting ranges from basic runtime and location tracking to enhanced J1939 CANBus monitoring. CANBus data typically includes diagnostic fault codes, fuel consumption, idle vs. work time analysis, engine direct hour meter/odometer readings as well as temperatures and pressures. These production metrics are utilized to properly assess working time and curb excessive idle time, which negatively impact fuel consumption, asset wear, service costs and warranty. Threatening machine health conditions such as critical lamp statuses, temperatures and pressures are transmitted within seconds via satellite by the Titan so corrective action may be taken to prevent a catastrophic failure. Five different satellite communication reporting packages are available for the Titan Equipment Monitoring System.

“We are excited to offer a complete, rugged telemetry solution for applications with no cellular coverage,” said Tony Nicoletti, director of Strategy and Business Development at DPL Telematics. "With five different reporting packages to choose from, customers will remotely access the correct data for their operational needs from anywhere on the planet, at a price point that fits their budget".

Opening New Windows into Remote Asset Management and Worker Safety with Satellite Communications

Industries such as construction, mining, energy, utilities and forestry, face many challenges when it comes to tracking assets and employees. Equipment often has to be transferred between locations, or monitored while it is dormant during off seasons. Lone workers may have to travel long distances or visit multiple sites during the course of their activities. And, all of this is further complicated today with shifting supply chains and economic realities putting further strain on the bottom line.
