Volvo CE Appoints New Dealer for Yukon Territory, Canada

Volvo Construction Equipment has appointed Great West Equipment as the new Volvo dealer and service hub in Yukon Territory, in western Canada. The dealership will sell Volvo Construction Equipment and provide after-sales services and maintenance in the region.

The appointment extends the dealer’s reach from British Columbia to Yukon, a strategic location for Volvo in Canada due to its vibrant mining industry.

“Volvo Construction Equipment is proud to have Great West serving western Canada and now Yukon,” said Göran Lindgren, president Sales Region Americas, Volvo Construction Equipment. “We’re certain this development will greatly benefit Canadian customers.”

Great West has opened a new facility in the city of Whitehorse, Yukon’s capital and largest city in northern Canada.

“We’re working to provide the best customer support for Volvo customers in Yukon,” said Colin Matejka, Great West’s COO. “We have a great pool of resources already in place in our 10 branches throughout British Columbia from which we can draw our trainers, parts inventory for quicker turnarounds.”

Dedicated dealer

Great West’s staff are 100 percent dedicated to Volvo and are factory-trained at Volvo Construction Equipment plants. The dealership already has two Volvo-trained service technicians on staff and two service trucks at the Whitehorse branch. Plans for more resources are also underway.

“Our slogan is service first and our goal is to be the best in service, simply put,” Matejka said.

Volvo’s sales representative in the area says Great West’s experience in the area will help better serve customers.

“Great West has a lot of experience serving nearby markets,” said Santiago Vargas, district business manager for western Canada, Volvo Construction Equipment. “They have experience with the challenging weather conditions in the area, which is a plus for customers.”

The dealership has already supplied equipment and parts to Yukon’s government, the territory’s largest employer and investor.

“Great West is already well established in British Columbia. Now with this expansion, they will bring the many years of knowledge they have accumulated to the Yukon region and provide the best for customers in regards to Volvo products and services,” Vargas said.
