Manitou MLT 840 Agricultural/Multi-Purpose Telescopic Handler

Manitou MLT 840 Agricultural/Multi-Purpose Telescopic Handler

With a maximum capacity of 8,818 lbs. (4000 kg) and a maximum lift height of 24’9” (7.55m), the MLT 840 telescopic handler is the ideal choice for versatility and performance. Specializing in material handling tasks, this unit excels in livestock feeding, harvesting and loading and unloading applications. Powered by a 115 hp (86 kW) Interim Tier IV, John Deere diesel engine, the MLT 840 provides the power needed for large jobs.

The all-new M-Shift® Gearbox provides smooth gear changes in all situations with minimum torque interruption. The operator is in charge, choosing from automatic or manual mode. In Automatic Mode, the gearshift program adapts to the application, determining the optimal gear for operation. In Manual Mode, the operator chooses the gear by selecting buttons on the Joystick Switch and Move (JSM) control. The torque converter lock-up function provides over 13.3 mph (23 km/hr) in fourth gear and 23.6 mph (38 km/hr) in fifth gear. This lock-up system improves efficiency, increases tractive effort and reduces fuel consumption.

The new, Manitou-patented, Duplex boom design provides a more compact structure. Thin-walled, high quality steel results in a stronger overall design. A reduction in overall weight of the internal components increases lifting capacities with a minimal increase in machine size.

Comfort is key for operators spending much of their day in the cab of a machine. For greater operator efficiency, switches and controls are grouped according to function. Drive, boom and hydraulic functions are all controlled by the JSM control, leaving the other hand free to operate the steering wheel. A highly-visible, side-mounted dashboard digitally displays the hour meter, speed, travel direction and maintenance reminders. Operator comfort is further enhanced with sound levels as low as 76 dB inside the cab.

The MLT 840 telescopic handler’s true value to the agricultural industry comes in its versatility. The quick-fit mounting system connects easily to a wide range of Manitou-tested attachments. A hydraulic lock option provides for fast attachment changes without leaving the operator’s seat. Standard auxiliary hydraulics offer a flow up to 39.6 gpm (150 L/min) to power even the most demanding attachments. A wide variety of approved attachments include forks, rotating carriages, buckets, grapples, bale handlers, and hay handlers. A universal skid steer interface plate allows the use of many skid steer attachments with the MLT 840 Telescopic Handler.

Additional comfort is gained by the use of cushioned stops on the lift cylinders. This creates smoother operation when lowering and extending the boom. The optional Comfort Ride Control (CRC) boom suspension system minimizes the loss of material when traveling.

Extra attention was paid to the ease of service and maintenance for the all-new MLT 840 telescopic handler. A large engine cover is hinged and equipped with gas springs to assist in the lifting and holding in place during servicing. Batteries and other daily maintenance points are easily accessible through the large engine cover. Grease fittings are centralized, making regular axle lubrication easy.
