LiDAT – Liebherr’s comprehensive data transmission and positioning system

LiDAT is the name given to the Liebherr vehicle fleet management system. It provides a unified platform for earthmoving machines, construction cranes, deep-foundation equipment and maritime cranes. Since machines from other manufacturers can be integrated, LiDAT can operate as a data transmission and machine locating system for the most extensive vehicle and machine fleets.

LiDAT is a comprehensive machine management system for the secure, reliable transmission and analysis of machine data. Based on ultra-modern communication technology, LiDAT supplies the information needed for machine location and operation, and thus permits efficient remote control of management, task planning and fleet monitoring.

The principal machine data and operating parameters can be seen at any time as a LiDAT display. Depending on the subscription package, data can be brought up to date several times a day, called up by web browser or integrated directly into the customer’s IT systems.

Groups of machines can be easily defined to conform with organizational boundaries on the construction site. Either time or position limits can be laid down for individual machines.

The range of functions varies according to whether the LiDAT Basic or LiDAT Plus version is chosen. There are also several additional packages for specific machines. A wide range of applications is covered, to suit the user’s requirements. At any time and at any location in the world, the LiDAT web portal can be used to call up various operating parameters such as machine position, operating hours, usage periods, fuel consumption, loads, load-moment cycles, service interval information and where and when the machine is operated.

The additional “Teleservice for construction cranes” package makes it possible for instance to respond quickly and in a targeted manner if servicing work is needed. A live data link can be established, and the relevant information transmitted in the form of sensor values and other operating or erecting situations. This additional package also memorises data for later reference in a detailed, comprehensive database, including suggested solutions.

To permit efficient planning of mechanics’ work schedules, LiDAT supplies automated service interval information. Direct access to the machine and online messages if critical operating situations arise are extremely useful in avoiding unwanted machine shutdown periods.

Those hiring or renting out machines equipped with LiDAT benefit from rapid position location, a clear basis for cost calculation and detailed facts on the work carried out with the machine. A record of unexpected situations and unusual operating circumstances is kept, and can be forwarded by e-mail.
