Michelin unveils two new truck tires for on/off road applications

Michelin Americas Truck Tires (MATT) is introducing two new tires for on/off road applications. The new MICHELIN X Works XDY commercial truck tire is designed for exceptional traction and wear in on/off road applications, while the new MICHELIN XDY-EX2 tire is Michelin’s most aggressive drive axle tire for extreme operating conditions, such as logging, oil fields and mining.

“For today’s construction and on/off road fleets, it’s all about operational efficiency,” said Ted Becker, vice president of marketing for Michelin Americas Truck Tires. “Traction and overall tire protection are paramount to maintaining uptime. The MICHELIN X Works XDY and the XDY-EX2 tires feature maximum sidewall protection with aggressive tread designs that deliver exceptional traction and durability.”

The X Works XDY tire provides enhanced durability due to a more robust tread design, delivering a 10-percent mileage improvement when compared with the MICHELIN XDY3 tire. Uptime is maximized with the directional tread design, improving the efficiency of mud evacuation to provide greater levels of traction. Maximum tread and casing life is achieved with Co-Ex Technology, which combines a top tread layer of chip and tear resistant compounds with a cool base tread layer to preserve the casing. The tire features extra-thick sidewall protection to guard against shocks, snags, impacts or other damage, and it is available in two sizes: 11R22.5, 11R24.5.

The XDY-EX2 tire improves on the last-generation XDY-EX tire, offering better off-road and mud traction from an aggressive tread design with more void area. Maximum tread and casing life is once again obtained due to Co-Ex Technology. With extra-thick sidewalls, the XDY-EX2 tire provides considerable protection from the shocks, snags and impacts typically associated with severe service. The tire is available in an 11R24.5 size.
