Dynapac sets new benchmarks in cold planing

Dynapac’s new generation of 500mm (19.7-inch) wide, compact cold planers – the new T models PL500T and PL500TD – are available as three- or four-wheeled units. The PL500T is powered by an 82kW (110-hp) Cummins QSB4.5 C110 diesel engine, while the PL500TD uses a Cummins C130 rated at 97 kW (130 hp). Increased engine power ensures maximum cutting depth of 16 cm (6.3 inches) with PL500T and 20 cm (7.9 inches) with the PL500TD.

Considerable attention has been paid to the ergonomic design of the planers with, for example, a vibration-minimized operator’s platform, controls and instrumentation positioned facing towards the operator for ease of operation, and all-round visibility which is particularly important for viewing the cutting areas.

The Dynapac patented-applied, hydraulically operated, front sealing of the cutter housing, adapted to the shape of the cutting drum, minimizes the accumulation of the milled material, thereby reducing labour time at the end of the cutting track.

A user-friendly control concept guarantees fast response times and high performance-related operation, important for patching work, when the operator has many small independent jobs to do.

An option is the Dynapac, patented, parallelogram front axle which offers increased traction, reduced wear and tear, and improved wheel control in case of a height difference for the front wheels.

Special drums for demarcation work and fine spaced cutting drums are easy and quick to change. Smaller drums with an adapted scraper blade and a side cutting wheel are optionally available.

The compact planers can be fitted with a 1 m (39.4-inch) conveyor for loading a wheel loader bucket, or with a 5.5 m (216.5-inch) conveyor for loading trucks.
