Post driver for skid steers
A powerful, new Bradco PD4800 skid steer-based post driver offers a combined weight (driver and hammer) of 1,700 pounds and can be fitted to any commercially-available skid steer.
Designed for use by road crews, landscapers, fence installation contractors and land developers – to name a few – the post driver provides large-scale production in a compact unit, according to Bob Schulte, Bradco sales representative. “This tool was designed to meet a range of needs our customers expressed to us,” he said. These include one of the industry’s smoothest operations with almost no shock-load back to the base machine; the ability to operate off standard flow auxiliary hydraulics, eliminating the need for a separate pump and tank; a quick-change striker plate and collar assembly which allows fast changes to accommodate different sized posts – up to an 8-inch round or square; and a 12.65-inch manual side shift, which not only affords the operator better visibility, it allows him or her to get closer to the work area in obstructed, difficult-to-access situations.” Other features include oversized motor bearing supports and drive sprocket, no shaft and bearing; compatibility with striker plate and collar assemblies from PostMaster as well as with Bradco Tilt-Attach; hands-free operation once posts are set; easy post alignment; and excellent down force without “mushrooming” posts. “Safety was one of the major considerations in the design of the PD4800,” says Schulte, “and we’ve given the operator excellent see-through capability. With the weight raised, the operator can clearly see the driver head and collar, making the operation not only more efficient but safer as well.”
