80-ton crane extends 144 feet in 25 seconds

Both crane and drive operations can be performed from the cab on the rotating superstructure of the GR-800XL-1. There are four steering modes: 2-wheel front, 2-wheel rear, 4-wheel coordinated, and 4-wheel crab. Drive choices are 4x2 front drive or 4x4 front and rear drive. Turning radius in 4-wheel steer is 21 feet 12 inches (6.7 m) and in 2-wheel steer it is 39 feet (11.9 m). Overall length for travel is 46 feet 8 inches and maximum travel speed is 25 mph (40 km/h).
The GR-800XL-1 is powered by a 7.5-litre, Mitsubishi direct injection diesel.
Tadano’s GR-800XL-1 rough terrain crane has an 80-ton (72.6-mt) capacity. The five-section, full power, synchronized telescoping boom is a round hexagonal box construction with seven sheaves and extends from 37.7 to 144.4 feet (11.5 to 44 m) in two minutes and 25 seconds.
Boom elevation ranges from -2.0 to +80.7 degrees and takes 77 seconds. This is achieved by a double acting, hydraulic cylinder with holding valve.
The jib is a two stage, bi-fold lattice type with 3.5-, 25- or 45-degree offset (tilt type), and is 32.5 or 58.1 feet (9.9 or 17.7 m) long. The anti-two block is a pendant type over-winding cut-out device with audio visual (failure lamp/buzzer) warning system.
There are four hydraulically operated beam and jack outriggers. Vertical jack cylinders are equipped with integral holding valves. Each outrigger beam and jack is controlled independently from the cab. Beams extend to 23 feet 7.5 inches (7.2 m) centre-line and retract to within 10 feet 10.5 inches (3.3 m) overall width with floats.
