Boom trucks for material handling

BIK Hydraulics has been supplying the material handling industry for 20 years, building boom trucks for material handling purposes. Originally, they were designed to help high-volume suppliers unload supplies quickly, so reach and capacity were less important than speed. Contractors quickly realized that they could save on labour if their suppliers could place the loads closer to where they were required, making reach and capacity more important. Today those first 38-foot booms with 3,500-pound capacity, folding forks, hydraulic rotators and top seat operation controls have been replaced by booms like the PM WB 60 that offer 71 feet of tip height and a capacity of 6,100 pounds vertically. The PM WB 60 can be both front and rear mounted, although most customers prefer the rear mount to maximize overall reach. The PM comes standard with a Scanreco fully proportional radio remote control that enables the operator to control not only the speed of the boom, but also the idle of the truck, truck engine start/stop, and a convenient five level, rabbit-turtle speed control to enable precise movement for demanding jobs within tight confines.
